MEN WORKING ON
“Men Working On” is my first go at screenprinting. While extremely technically simple - consisting of only two layers - the goal of the project is to tackle a more complex issue: men’s mental health.
Historically, men have been expected to appear as stoic and in control, and to avoid asking for help. This mandate affects not only mental health, but it spills over into all aspects of men's lives. I believe the traditional criteria for masculinity robs men of emotionally fulfilling lives - it keeps fathers from knowing their own children (and vice versa), mothers from fully understanding their sons, and partners from connecting fully.
